A Story of David vs Goliath
I walked away from the 'Big Tech' ecosystem in 2012. I could no longer align myself with an industry that routinely ignored the real-world ethical and social consequences of its products. I wasn't going to give my time or skills to advance the goals of companies that sought profit and power at the glaring expense of humanity. In life, you are always given a choice: you either are part of the solution or part of the problem. While the easy choice would have been to stick to high earnings, it wasn't the right choice.
In 2014, I decided to use my experience and skill for good and created FireWorks Online Marketing. FireWorks was a specialised online marketing agency. An agency committed to empowering startups and small businesses by leveraging our expertise in branding, user experience (UX), and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) / Large Language Model Optimization (LLMO). And we did; we helped and created many small businesses across Canada succeed against all odds by positioning their products and services organically, saving these small and medium businesses precious resources needed to succeed.
Despite the success stories, conditions in Canada changed dramatically from the mid 2010s with the change in government in 2015. A Decade of poor decision-making at a federal level changed the entire landscape for many businesses and the prospects for many others.
